LIFE LEARNING ASSESSMENT

Life Learning Assessment is a concept that has been around academic circles for quite some time. This course is designed for the mature student wanting to enter the academic world again or for the first time. The following is a course description for Life Learning Assessment:

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is a guided study in how to move life learning into an academic program. Attention will be given to identifying personal strengths, weaknesses and life mission; to examining the college experience and what is required in an academic program; and to integrating life learning into a chosen academic program. For those who are contemplating a return to formal education, this course is a beginning point to help clarify goals and expectations.

COURSE OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will gain:
An appreciation for an understanding of the relationship between experience and learning.
An increased understanding of the scope and benefits of prior learning experiences.
An ability to assess life experiences in terms of their contribution to learning.
An appreciation for how a variety of life learning experiences contribute to one’s future formal and informal educational needs.
A new level of confidence regarding one’s current level of college level learning.
A sense of what types of learning opportunities or academic programs will be best to pursue in the future.
The ability to develop a learning portfolio that clearly connects life-learning experiences to equivalent college-level courses.

*There is a $75.00 fee for harvesting the Life Learning Assessment and reporting (from the Academic Dean)
*There is a $5.00 per credit hour fee to transfer credits from the Life Learning Assessment to the student's IBC transcript.

FOUNDATIONS FOR LIFE AND FAITH

Foundations for Life and Faith is an introductory class that will help you, especially as a younger student entering your college years, discover whether formal education is a viable option for you and will introduce you to IBC. The following is a course description for Foundations for Life and Faith:

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Foundations for Life and Faith is an exciting new course at IBC that will introduce you to both IBC and yourself afresh! This course will guide you through an assessment of your life including your Christian testimony, your educational background, your unique gifting and your future ministry and vocational possibilities.

COURSE OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will gain:
A more in depth insight into your personal Christian testimony, how God has led you in the past, where you are presently and where God could lead in the future.
A new level of self-understanding based on a personal psychological assessment.
An appreciation for the unique Pentecostal educational experience IBC provides based on sound, Scriptural, theological principles.
The necessary, cognitive framework to bring your life experiences into greater personal perspective.
An appreciation for what is called "differentiation", or the need to become mature individually and at the same time connected corporately.
An increased understanding of education as a transforming influence in one's life not merely the dissemination of information.
